It's been three years since I had Sara Beth Geoghegan (pronounced go-hay-gen) in concert. Back then, I said that her music was "one of the best discoveries I've made." It still is.
Her soon-to be released record, Wrong Side of the World, still bears her trademark style: quirky, often witty lyrics of love and loss, under-girded by faith, with interesting musical arrangements. This time, though, she more often eschews the piano for guitar. All in all, the record shows musical growth and lyrical maturity--- all that you would hope for in a sophomore release.
Think Sara Groves or Jill Phillips with a dose of Joni Mitchell. OK, and maybe Cyndi Lauper. Maybe the last is a stretch, but you can't smile over a Joni Mitchell record but, no matter the theme, you can smile here. Sara Beth is funny. Follow her Twitter feed and you'll see what I mean.
But I digress. What you need to do is see her close up, hear her poignant, witty songs, and be treated to her funny anecdotes of life and love.
Sara Beth is coming all the way from Nashville, so will you come show her some fan-love?
You'll find a video of Sara Beth below, but I really don't think it does her justice, and if you saw her last time around, you know that. Give her music a listen. Join us for an evening of song. Invite some friends. You'll be glad you did.
All you need to do is buy a ticket below via Paypal. Our home is in North Raleigh, but you'll be sent directions about a week before the concert. See you there!
